Darling Scarp

dedicated to Golnaz Shariatzadeh

Listening to the recording yesterday before release, a year after the premiere, I felt the early pandemic which I’d spent in Kalamunda -- feelings of awe, anger, renewal, and nature-derived-joy blended with nostalgias of exploring my Grandmothers garden as a kid; all along the Darling Scarp.

This piece loosely follows the sequence of a dry winter day –– pre-dawn glow, morning breezes, sun-splintering and earth stretching; magpie chorus, cold air and light blue, stars and stillness sinking in; kookaburra’s and a night ritual.

premiered on HYDRA (12-chan stereo) April 25 2024
